Dead men have no rights 2
One of the hardest things for us to do as believers is to give up our sense of entitlement. Whether we call it pride or self love, we all struggle with thinking we deserve better. In Colossians 3:3 The Bible tells us we are dead and our life is hidden in Christ. If we are dead we have no rights. Anytime that a circumstance in our life challenges us to the point we think we deserve better, we must remember we don't have any rights. Jesus said to take up our cross daily and follow Him, but it is for easier to talk about the cross rather than to embrace it. The cross is symbolic of death and our self love doesn't want to die. The Father must allow things to come into our life that bring us to the cross, remember the old hymn The way of the cross leads home? This is true we must be conformed to the image of Christ and there is no other way.
Our modern church has done all it can to take away this message and that is the very reason there is no power in it or its man-made programs. The message of today is aimed at the self love that we all have. It appeals to our soul or our mind, not to our spirit. The soul wants to please itself, the spirit wants to please God. When we let go of our life for God we gain the life of Christ. This brings up the point: do we want the life of Christ? His life on earth was full of sacrifice and sorrow. He didn't have a house or any type of comfort at all. His whole life was about doing His Fathers work, He was always in company with sorrow and suffering right up to the cross. Even though he was the King of Kings he lived among the poor, never asking for anything for himself. I think we really only want the life of the king not of the servant. Remember this: No pain, No gain; No cross, No crown.
I believe that many of us who are trying to serve the Lord are just like John when he was on the island cast away for his faith. Look at Rev 1:9 John said he is our brother in tribulation, kingdom and perseverance in Jesus. Then he said he was on an island called Patmos because of Gods word and the testimony of Jesus. The word Patmos means the place of killing or death and John said he was there because of Gods word and testimony of Jesus. But consider this, John was at the place of his death and from it he was given the revelation of Christ and His Kingdom. I believe that I am at my Patmos as we speak and many of you are as well. God has brought us to the place of our killing to bring the fullness of Christ into our life. John was not comfortable at Patmos, but he was willing to be there because of Gods Word and the Testimony of Christ. Are you at Patmos right now? Are you willing to give up your life for Christ? If so the revelation of Christ and His Kingdom is yours but we must let go of our self.
One more quick point I want you to see. I will open it up, but will have to go deeper in part 3 of this. In Rev 3:11-13 John said he heard a voice behind him and he turned to see the voice. He saw the 7 golden lamp stands and One like the Son of Man. The 7 lamp stands are the church and John was beyond the church and in the Kingdom. Which is where the Lord wants us now! I will send out more on this next time but I want to show you this point. Exodus 37:17 The lamp stands which were in the inner court of the temple and also representative of the Church in Revelation were to be made out of hammered gold. I believe that God is hammering the candlesticks now making us a vessel of honor to Him and Him alone. Don't fret if you are at Patmos, the place of your killing and you are getting hammered. It is the hand of the Lord taking you to your place in His Kingdom. I have a lot more on this but I feel I need to stop here for now.
So I say so long from my Patmos and will keep you all in the forefront of my prayers.
The Best is yet to come and for the remnant our best life is yet to come!!!!!
